MOOLOOLABA DAY TRIPS

Sunshine Coast attractions and day trips – Mooloolaba has both in abundance for the perfect way to switch up the pace after spending a day or two on Mooloolaba Beach.

Couples and families looking for excitement won’t be disappointed in the local surrounds. On top of having plenty to do and experience in Mooloolaba itself, our prime location opens up a world of memorable days out, with the best Sunshine Coast attractions being only a short drive away.

Austrialia Zoo

Have you visited Australia Zoo yet? It’s the world-famous Australian zoo owned by the Irwin family. And for animal lovers, there isn’t a better attraction and day out to enjoy on the Sunny Coast.

Within a 25-minute drive from Mooloolaba, visit Australia Zoo to see the Irwin’s beautiful home of animal species, complete with up-close encounters (feeding experiences, picture taking), guided tours and live demonstrations that let you see your favourite animals in action. Not to be missed: Showtime in the Crocoseum, Tiger Temple and African Savannah.

Eumundi Markets

The Eumundi Markets is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular marketplaces, held Wednesdays and Saturdays from morning to mid-afternoon. What sets the Eumundi Markets apart is its offering of handmade artisan treasures, in addition to regular live performances from musicians and street performers who give the market its character and atmosphere.

Also known as the “Original Eumundi Markets”, this vibrant marketplace is a must-visit for newcomers on the Sunshine Coast. You can be sure to leave with a few unique gifts and souvenirs, as well as a stomach full of tasty treats and mouth-watering local food.

Aussie World

If you’re looking for thrills and excitement for all the family, Aussie World is the complete package. This theme park is the largest in the region, boasting small and large rides and roller coasters – over 30 in total – for both thrill-seekers and little ones.

Located in Palmview, Aussie World is only a 25-minute drive away. And when appetites are high, the theme park also features a number of onsite eateries, in addition to The Village Shopping hub and the Aussie World Gift Shop.

Don’t miss the chance to ride The Wasp, SX360, Mayhem Maze, Redback and The Plunge, as well as little rides including Bug Run, Booma Zooma and Giggle Go Round.

PLACES TO SEE ON THE SUNSHINE COAST

You might want to “see” the Sunshine Coast on your holiday, specifically its more natural side, and the region has no shortage of lush national parks, unique beaches and hidden treasures to seek out.

In Mooloolaba, take in the coastal views from Rock Wall Mooloolaba or Point Cartwright Lighthouse. Looking for complete immersion in nature? You will want to visit Buderim Forest Park, as well as Kondalilla National Park to see the breath-taking Kondalilla Falls. From our accommodation, both parks are reachable by car.

And for the best 360-degree views of the region, take a climb up Mount Coolum – the view overlooking the ocean, beaches and western hinterland is one you won’t forget.

Ginger Factory

A Sunshine Coast attraction that shouldn’t be missed for families. The Ginger Factory, located in Yandina, offers an unforgettable day featuring train rides, grounds to explore and mouth-watering food to taste, all grown and produced onsite.

Just a few things to enjoy at The Sunshine Coast Ginger Factory include the Overboard boat ride, Ginger Train, Live Bee Show, ginger tasting and ice cream tasting at the Ice Creamery, plus more. For kids and adults alike, The Ginger Factory has something for all.

National Park

On your stay, make sure to visit Mooloolah River National Park. It’s a 15-minute drive from Mooloolaba Beach, offering the perfect spot to stroll, bush walk, sight-see, birdwatch and tuck into a picnic.

Mooloolah River National Park is home to woodlands, forests, local wildlife and hidden picnic spots where you’re sure to enjoy the perfect change of pace on your holiday. For couples and families who love the great outdoors, it’s one national park that’s well worth including on your itinerary.

Bekkingham Maze

Looking for even more things to see and do on the Sunshine Coast? Bellingham Maze is a unique attraction that’s well worth visiting nearby (a short 10-minute drive). Simply put, it’s heaps of fun, home to a number of large mazes including a hedge maze, tyre maze, rope maze, wooden maze and more.

If you’ve ever wanted to see if you can find your way out of a gigantic maze, Bellingham Maze is the place to find out. And on top of its fun variety of mazes, it has a mini golf course to tackle, as well as great food and drink to close the day in the Bellingham Maze Garden Cafe.

Buderim Falls

A hidden gem you can find in just a 15-minute drive from Mooloolaba Beach. Inside Buderim Forest Park, Buderim Falls – a hidden waterfall and rock pool – is a breath-taking sight to see in the heart of the 45-hectare forest. What’s more, is that the route to get there is just as scenic.

Buderim Forest Park offers picturesque walking tracks, rainforest trees, flora and fauna, cascading creeks, swimming holes, hidden caves and lots more. It’s an explorer and nature lover’s paradise and the ideal location to de-stress and recharge, as well as enjoy a change of pace and scenery from Mooloolaba Beach.

We have stayed at the Aegean a couple of times now, its just been repainted on the outside and has got new balcony furniture. The ocean or marina views are great rooms to get, especially in summer as the balcony’s are in the shade from early afternoon onwards. Its a great location right in the heart of Mooloolaba with great views and easy walking distance to everything. The interior rooms are a little dated but

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, which was a perfect size for a family with two teenagers. The location is perfect, with everything you could need within easy walking distance and great views. The apartments are clean, and the shared facilities well maintained. In particular it was great that the pool was heated warm enough that you could swim even in winter – we took advantage of it every day. The private rooftop balcony
