Every year Mooloolaba Esplanade comes to life for New Year’s Eve, welcoming over 40,000 locals and visitors with an incredible family-friendly beachfront event where you can party the night away! Ease into the evening and grab a bite to eat from the array of food vendors, and enjoy a little retail therapy exploring the unique and fascinating selection of market stalls along the Esplanade.
When you are ready to get the party started and really immerse yourself in the celebrations, fun isn’t hard to find. You will get a real kick out of the charismatic and talented roving street performers as they wander through the crowd, surprising and entertaining everyone they meet.
From 4:30 pm onwards, live DJs and musicians deliver a supercharged atmosphere guaranteed to get you dancing with pumping music and live performances. Enjoy the shows on the main stage with a fantastic lineup of artists set to deliver energetic performances for you to enjoy, or kick off your shoes and get your feet sandy at the beach stage.
Thrill-seekers will be delighted to discover a host of carnival rides to enjoy and get their hearts pumping, and the kids will be thrilled to find face painting and temporary tattoo stations as well as spot some of their favourite characters wandering around the Esplanade.
Of course, the highlight of the evening for many is the breathtaking fireworks displays over the sparkling Pacific Ocean. Two displays are scheduled, a family-friendly earlier display at 8:30 pm, and a midnight display so that you can enjoy the countdown and welcome in 2022 with wonder.
Mooloolaba New Years Eve Cruise
For our guests that are looking for an adults-only option for the evening’s celebrations, Sunreef Mooloolaba is offering up an 18+ evening cruise. You can get out on the water from 9:30 pm onwards, and indulge in a two-hour 20-metre catamaran experience, including food and beverages as you drift along the Mooloolaba River.
There is also the option of a family-friendly 6 pm cruise finishing up with the 8:30 pm fireworks display from the dock. Whichever option you choose, there is no doubt that you will enjoy your evening as you float along, soaking up the spectacular sights from the river.
Mooloolaba New Year’s Eve dining and celebrations
