Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast is known for its iconic annual events, held throughout the year. And if you’re looking to add some extra excitement to your beach holiday, why not time your visit to coincide with one of the following?

From local live entertainment to huge annual Mooloolaba events such as Mooloolaba SUP Fest, the Mooloolaba Tri, Old Woman Ocean Paddle, Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade and more, Mooloolaba won’t disappoint if you’re looking for excitement, atmosphere and entertainment on your holiday.

Mooloolaba Annual Events

This location is a picturesque surf suburb and one of the most vibrant destinations the Sunshine Coast has to offer. So it makes sense that it’s also one of the Sunshine Coast’s busiest destinations when it comes to annual events, festivals and world-class live entertainment.

Just a few of our famous annual events include Mooloolaba SUP Festival, The Old Woman Ocean Paddle, Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast, the Mooloolaba Tri, Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade and New Year’s Eve in Mooloolaba – where music and fireworks light up the picturesque Esplanade for all to see.

And that’s not all. Each week, there is non-stop live entertainment to catch at various local venues, including The Events Centre Caloundra, Solbar in Maroochydore and NightQuarter in Birtinya, all reachable within a short drive from us. After a full day on the beach, nothing beats a live show if you want to end the day with a bang, and these venues offer everything from live music and dance, to cabaret and theatre.

Blackall 100 Trail Run

17–18 October 2026

QCCC Mapleton, 70 Obi Obi Rd, Mapleton

One of Queensland’s most celebrated trail running events winds through the hinterland rainforest above the Sunshine Coast. Distance options range from 10km to 100km, drawing both recreational runners and elite competitors. The event is held in the hills around Mapleton, approximately 37km from Mooloolaba.

Great location especially with little toddlers and a baby, close to the beach, playground, restaurants and aquarium. Staff are very accommodating. Pool is nice and hot, great for a family.

Close to everything, no need to use the car. Surf club across the road, as well as the wharf. Rooms were clean and spacious. Lovely balcony with views. Pool area with spa (both heated). Reception staff were lovely. Very happy with the choice of staying here.

We have stayed at the Aegean a couple of times now, its just been repainted on the outside and has got new balcony furniture. The ocean or marina views are great rooms to get, especially in summer as the balcony’s are in the shade from early afternoon onwards. Stayed here for 2 weeks, location is fabulous and unit was spacious and comfortable. The whole complex is clean the pool was great and the spa on our roof top great. Bathroom was a little on the small sign but manageable. The managers are lovely and made us feel quite welcome. We enjoyed our stay and would definately rebook at the Aegean again hopefully soon.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment, which was a perfect size for a family with two teenagers. The location is perfect, with everything you could need within easy walking distance and great views. The apartments are clean, and the shared facilities well maintained.
